S Gopalakrishnan elected as new President of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)
S Gopalakrishnan, the co-founder and Executive Co-Chairman of Infosys,
on 5 April 2013 was elected as the President of the industry body
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the year 2013-14.
He is succeeding Adi Godrej, Chairman of the Godrej Group.

Gopalakrishnan, who is also a Padma Bhushan recipient, Gopalakrishnan
was in recent times was voted as the top CEO (IT services category) in
Institutional Investor's inaugural ranking of Asia's Top Executives, and
was selected as one of the winners of the second Asian Corporate
Director Recognition Awards by Corporate Governance Asia.

Shriram, Chairman of DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd, is President
Designate of CII for the year 2013-2014. Sumit Mazumder Vice-Chairman
and Managing Director of Tractors India Pvt Ltd has been elected as the
Vice-President of the business chamber for the year.About S Gopalakrishnan
• He is an alumni of IIT, and is also on the Board of Governors at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM).
• In 1981, Gopalakrishnan co-founded Infosys with six other entrepreneurs.

From 1987-1994, Gopalakrishnan headed the technical operations of
KSA/Infosys (a joint venture between Infosys and KSA in Atlanta, GA).
•In
2007, Kris took over as CEO and Managing Director of Infosys
Technologies Limited from Nandan Nilekani. Kris previously served as
Chief Operating Officer (since April 2002), and as the President and
Joint Managing Director (since August 2006). His responsibilities
included Customer Services, Technology, Investments and Acquisitions.

He is also the Chairman of the International Institute of Information
Technology, Bangalore, and Vice Chairman of the Board for Information
Technology Education Standards (BITES) set up by the Government of Karnataka.
